For a new US purchase in this TOPDON family, choose the TC002C Duo, subject to your exact phone and app requirements: TOPDON documents iOS, Android and Windows support and includes it in its US home-imager range. The earlier TC002C is designed for Apple USB-C devices and explicitly excludes Android; keep a working TC002 or TC002C unless Duo's extra platforms solve a need.

Best current US purchase: TOPDON TC002C Duo
The US product page identifies the model as TC002C Duo; its page data gives the SKU TC002CDUO. Match that full name when ordering. A listing headed only “TC002C” does not establish that it is the Duo.
Its English manual documents mobile use with TopInfrared and Windows use with TopView. The US specifications say the connected device supplies the battery and display, so a supported, charged host is part of the usable setup.
Our reason to choose Duo is that documented host flexibility and a current US package. We would not replace a satisfactory Apple-only setup solely for its enhanced-image dimensions: the native detector and the legacy app update matter more than the largest number in an image.

Same detector dimensions do not prove identical images
TOPDON describes Duo's 256 × 192 input becoming 512 × 384 through TISR processing. Those are native and enhanced dimensions respectively; they do not describe a larger native detector. The app history establishes legacy TISR availability without establishing identical output or performance across every hardware revision.
The Duo manual specifies 25 Hz, NETD below 40 mK, an object range of −20 to 550°C, and 0.1°C temperature resolution. Its accuracy specification is ±2°C or ±2% of reading, whichever is larger. The resolution figure is a display increment, not that accuracy promise. Emissivity, ambient temperature and camera-to-object distance can affect readings, according to the same manual.
The maker's documents disagree on field of view: the US Duo table says 56° × 42°, while the global Duo page says 50° × 37.2°. We cannot establish a revision explanation, so do not choose it on an assumed coverage advantage. For original TC002, the archived manual says NETD below 50 mK, while its European page says below 40 mK; that also prevents a clean sensitivity ranking from these documents.
Match the current app as well as the connector
USB-C iPhone: TC002C's maker page explicitly names the iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 series and Type-C iPads. Duo's US page describes USB-C iPhones. Neither description makes every USB-C device compatible. Identify the exact camera label and phone before selecting the app and cable.
Current iOS app: the TopInfrared listing requires iOS 12.0 or later. By contrast, the archived TC002 manual names the old TC002 app and gives iOS 11 / iPhone 7 guidance. Treat that as historical setup information. An old manual's minimum is not a substitute for the current software requirements.
iPad: TOPDON names iPads, while the current App Store page labels TopInfrared “Only for iPhone.” That is a reason to confirm installation and the exact tablet workflow before buying for iPad use. It does not establish a dedicated tablet interface or prove that the hardware cannot work with any iPad.
Android: choose Duo rather than original TC002C. The Duo manual says phones without OTG are incompatible. Check that requirement and the current app's install requirements for the particular Android device; USB-C alone does not settle either.
Windows or Mac: Duo's manual gives a Windows connection procedure using TopView. Its listed systems are iOS, Android and Windows; it provides no macOS workflow. We have not verified minimum Android or Windows versions from these model documents, so confirm those against the current downloads before purchase.
Decide what you need to save and reopen
For reporting, separate live PC viewing, sharing a finished report and reopening a capture with editable temperature data. Duo's manual documents live Windows operation, and its global page describes report sharing. TOPDON's software page describes TopView image comparison and Excel report export.
Those descriptions do not verify every phone-to-PC file path. The Duo manual directs users to Me > e-Manual in TopInfrared and File > Help > User Manual in TopView for detailed operation. Before choosing it for inspection records, confirm the export format, whether temperature data remain editable, and whether the receiving software accepts files captured on the phone. Do not assume a thermal video or shared image preserves the data you need.
Buying guide: cables, cases and the complete US kit
TOPDON's US box list names the TC002C Duo, quick start guide, USB-C to USB-C extension cable, USB-C to Lightning cable, carrying case and cleaning cloth. That is the package to match; do not substitute the TC001 Max accessory list or a regional legacy bundle.
Lightning is an accessory check as well as a phone check. Duo's manual allows connection through the supplied multifunctional adapter cable. The US package names a Lightning cable, but does not enumerate every supported Lightning phone. Confirm the exact combination with TOPDON support; a generic adapter's charging capability does not verify camera operation.
USB-A-only PC owners need an extra check. The manual's Windows diagram shows a USB-A connection through its adapter arrangement, but the US box list does not separately name a USB-A adapter. Ask which connection accessory comes with the actual US kit before counting on that diagram as a packing list.
A thick case can prevent seating. TOPDON's connection FAQ recommends removing thick cases, fully seating the connector and updating the app. Check clearance with your phone; use the documented extension arrangement where appropriate instead of forcing the camera against the case.
Match the label and package
Require TC002C Duo and the connection accessories your phone or PC needs.
Install the appropriate software
Use TopInfrared for mobile or TopView for Windows; check current host requirements.
Connect and authorize
Follow the manual, grant required permissions, then select Enable Thermal Imaging on mobile.
Check the saved result
Confirm your required export and reopening workflow before relying on it for inspection records.
The mobile connection and permission sequence comes from the Duo manual. For Android, check OTG first if the camera is unresponsive. Follow the maker's safety guidance: keep the camera away from water and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun or strong energy sources. The manual describes surface-temperature measurement; it cannot see through walls or ordinary glass.
Already own TC002 or TC002C? Check support before replacing it
The archived TC002 manual identifies its Lightning connector and original extension cable. Its current European page lists a Type-C cable added from December 2023, illustrating why the model name alone cannot establish an older unit's accessory package. Confirm an approved conversion accessory for your exact unit instead of assuming every TC002 box is identical.
For TC002C, the global page explicitly excludes Android and Mac devices. We did not establish a current US legacy package or a readable standalone TC002C manual, so neither legacy model is offered here as a confirmed new US purchase. That is a sourcing limit, not a claim that either model is discontinued. If your camera already works with your Apple device and needed files, Duo's extra platforms may offer no practical benefit.
How we choose
We compared official US product and package information, global and European model pages, the Duo English manual, the archived TC002 manual and the current publisher app listing, checked November 3, 2026. These recommendations come from documents, without physical testing. We prioritize a usable host, software and cable combination, and identify unresolved specifications instead of inferring performance from connector shape. See how we choose.
Verdict
Buy TC002C Duo for a new supported US setup, especially when Android or Windows flexibility matters. Match SKU TC002CDUO, the actual cables and current app requirements. Keep a working TC002 or TC002C for its supported Apple workflow unless you need the extra platforms; TISR alone is not a sufficient upgrade reason. Use the main thermal-camera guide if visible-image integration, a standalone screen or another format is the deciding requirement.
Frequently asked questions
Is TC002C Duo better than TC002C?
Choose Duo when Android or Windows support matters: its manual documents both alongside iOS, whereas TC002C is designed for Apple USB-C devices. Both have a 256 × 192 native detector, and TopInfrared's release history says TISR was enabled for TC002C too. We would keep a working TC002C for an Apple-only workflow rather than replace it just for an enhanced-resolution headline.
Will TC002C work on Android through its USB-C plug?
TOPDON explicitly says the original TC002C is not compatible with Android. Connector shape does not establish platform support. Choose the separately named TC002C Duo for documented Android support, and check the phone's OTG function: the Duo manual says phones without OTG are incompatible. Install the appropriate TopInfrared app and check its current requirements before ordering.
Does TC002C Duo work with a Lightning iPhone?
The US Duo package lists a USB-C to Lightning cable, and the manual describes connecting with the supplied multifunctional adapter cable. That is the documented route to investigate for a Lightning phone. Confirm your exact iPhone and app support with TOPDON before buying, and require that cable in the package. Do not treat an unspecified charging adapter as an equivalent accessory.
What app do TC002 and TC002C use now?
TOPDON's current European product pages link both models to TopInfrared. The archived TC002 manual instead tells readers to search for an app called TC002 and gives an older iOS minimum. Use the current publisher listing: it requires iOS 12.0 or later and its release history names both legacy cameras. An app's OS minimum still does not approve every phone and adapter combination.
Can I use TC002C Duo with an iPad or Mac?
TOPDON's US page names iPad support, but its current TopInfrared App Store listing says Only for iPhone. Confirm the exact iPad and app installation before buying for tablet use; we do not infer an iPad-specific interface. Duo's manual lists iOS, Android and Windows, without a macOS workflow. The older TC002C page explicitly excludes Mac devices. A USB-C socket alone is insufficient.
Can I analyze Duo phone captures on a Windows PC?
Duo supports live Windows operation with TopView, and TOPDON describes mobile report sharing. Those claims do not establish that every phone capture can be reopened on a PC with editable temperature data. For reporting work, ask for the exact supported file format and mobile-to-PC workflow. Verify that a sample capture reopens with the analysis data you need before relying on it for a job.
