Watch out

  • The i410 outputs 1 mV/A; the meter's mV reading, not its A reading, shows the current.
  • The i400 (AC-only) is a different Fluke clamp.

Why people pick it

  • Measures DC as well as AC current, which transformer-only clamp adapters cannot do, per Fluke's spec
  • 1 mV/A output makes the reading direct on any multimeter's mV range
  • Clamps conductors up to 32 mm without breaking the circuit
  • Useable from DC to 3 kHz, covering VFD output within its ratings

Know before you buy

  • 3.5% + 0.5 A basic accuracy is far coarser than a dedicated clamp meter
  • Cannot read below 0.5 A, so small loads are out of range
  • Needs its 9 V battery (Hall-effect sensor) and a separate multimeter to display readings
