For a Klein Tools Black Friday purchase, start with the MM420 if you need a general-purpose meter: it combines auto-ranging True RMS measurements with AC/DC current and temperature. For outlet checks, compare RT250KIT against buying an NCVT3P pen and RT210 tester separately; choose CL710 when DC clamp current is part of the job.

Quick picks

  • Need a meter? MM420. Choose it for automatic ranging and True RMS, rather than choosing by bundle size.
  • Need only a pen? NCVT3P. Buy the standalone package if you already have an outlet tester.
  • Need basic outlet checks? RT210. Choose its wiring-condition lights and GFCI test function; consider RT250KIT for an LCD outlet tester plus a pen.
  • Need AC and DC clamp current? CL710. Keep that requirement explicit when comparing it with the AC-current Fluke 323.

Bare tool versus kit: compare the exact package

“Standalone” does not necessarily mean no leads or batteries. The table separates instruments from their manufacturer-listed accessories; the cautions below explain conflicting descriptions. No row represents a verified promotion.

Exact model or kit Instruments / capability Maker-listed leads and accessories Buying trap
MM420 Auto-ranging True RMS multimeter; CAT III 600V Leads with CAT III/CAT IV caps, thermocouple, instructions, two AAA batteries Carrying case appears as an accessory, outside the included list
69355 MM320 manual-ranging meter, NCVT3P pen, RT250 LCD outlet tester Right-angle leads, instructions, required batteries The meter is MM320, not MM420
NCVT3P Dual-range AC detection; CAT IV 1000V Pen and two AAA batteries No outlet tester in the included list
RT210 GFCI and wiring checks; 110/125V AC three-wire outlets; CAT II 300V Plug-in tester with a wiring-condition chart Not the RT250 LCD model
RT250KIT NCVT3P plus RT250 Manuals, batteries and storage pouch RT250 displays voltage and GFCI trip time; check the battery discrepancy below
NCVT3PKIT NCVT3P plus ET45 contact AC/DC tester Instructions and required batteries ET45 is not a GFCI receptacle tester
CL710 600A AC/DC clamp; CAT IV 600V / CAT III 1000V Right-angle leads, pouch, manual, three AAA batteries Thermocouple description conflicts; hanger is optional
Fluke 117 Electrician's True RMS multimeter; CAT III 600V Silicone leads, holster, manual Standard package differs from CAL and reconditioned versions
Fluke 323 400A AC clamp; CAT III 600V / CAT IV 300V Test leads, soft case, quick reference guide AC/DC voltage does not mean DC clamp current
Fluke 117/323 Kit, part 4296041 117 multimeter plus 323 clamp Leads, holster and soft case; overview also names TPAK Confirm the exact lead set and hanger contents

The 69355 maker page explicitly identifies its manual-ranging MM320. Don't treat it as an MM420 bundle because the other testers look familiar. Likewise, NCVT3PKIT adds an ET45 contact tester, while RT250KIT adds the LCD outlet tester. These are different jobs, not interchangeable suffixes.

Best general-purpose meter: Klein MM420

The MM420 specification lists 600V AC/DC, 10A AC/DC, temperature, capacitance and frequency, with a CAT III 600V rating. Lead-Alert LEDs indicate lead placement. This is our starting point for someone who wants a versatile meter rather than several separate testers.

Klein Tools MM420 Auto-Ranging True RMS Digital Multimeter (600V)
Best general-purpose meter

Klein Tools

Klein Tools MM420 Auto-Ranging True RMS Digital Multimeter (600V)

A 4,000-count auto-ranging True RMS multimeter rated CAT III 600V that measures up to 600 V and 10 A, plus temperature, capacitance, frequency and duty cycle.

Comes in 4 versions: see which to buy

  • 600V max
  • 10A max
  • 4000 counts
  • CAT III 600V

The standard package already has leads and a thermocouple. Check whether an advertised bundle actually adds a case, clips or hanger you need; don't count pictured accessories without a written contents list. For temperature, the manual limits the supplied thermocouple to below 180°C / 356°F, despite the meter's wider temperature range.

Best pen to buy separately: Klein NCVT3P

The NCVT3P page specifies AC detection modes of 12–1000V and 70–1000V, with a flashlight that works independently. Choose the pen alone if another kit would duplicate an outlet tester you already own.

Klein Tools NCVT3P Dual-Range Non-Contact Voltage Tester with Flashlight (12-1000V AC)
Best pen to buy separately

Klein Tools

Klein Tools NCVT3P Dual-Range Non-Contact Voltage Tester with Flashlight (12-1000V AC)

A pen-style non-contact AC voltage detector with two sensitivity modes (12 to 1000 V AC and 70 to 1000 V AC), a built-in flashlight and a CAT IV 1000V rating.

Comes in 4 versions: see which to buy

  • 1000V max
  • CAT IV 1000V

Range wording conflict: Klein's headline bullet calls the low range 12–70V AC, while its specification table and manual give 12–1000V AC for that mode. The manual also says it will not detect DC and that voltage can still be present without an indication. It is an AC detector, not proof that wiring is safe to touch.

Check price on Amazon. Read the voltage-pen guide for limitations.

Best simple outlet tester: Klein RT210

The RT210 checks common wiring faults and GFCIs on 110/125V AC three-wire outlets. Its light-pattern chart makes it the straightforward standalone choice. The manual says it cannot indicate ground quality or combinations of defects, so a reassuring light pattern is not a complete wiring inspection.

Klein Tools RT210 GFCI Outlet Tester
Best simple outlet tester

Klein Tools

Klein Tools RT210 GFCI Outlet Tester

A three-light plug-in tester for standard and GFCI receptacles that shows common wiring faults and has a button to trip a GFCI.

Comes in 4 versions: see which to buy

  • CAT II 300V

Our outlet-bundle pick is RT250KIT if you need both tools: NCVT3P plus RT250, with a pouch. The RT250's LCD shows voltage, wiring faults and GFCI trip time; Klein restricts it to North American three-wire 120V outlets. It is an upgrade in displayed information, rather than simply RT210 plus a pen.

Battery wording conflict: The kit's “Batteries” row says four AAA, but its “Included” row says four AA. The RT250 manual and NCVT3P manual each specify two AAA. Confirm the supplied batteries instead of silently resolving the kit-page contradiction.

Check price on Amazon for RT210 alone. Use the maker link above for RT250KIT; its separate Amazon identifier awaits owner confirmation. More options: outlet testers.

Best for DC clamp current: Klein CL710

The CL710 provides True RMS, up to 600A AC/DC through the clamp, LoZ for ghost voltages and built-in non-contact detection. Its marked ratings are CAT IV 600V / CAT III 1000V. Prioritize those functions over the number of extras in an offer.

Klein Tools CL710 600A AC/DC Auto-Ranging True RMS Clamp Meter
Best for DC clamp current

Klein Tools

Klein Tools CL710 600A AC/DC Auto-Ranging True RMS Clamp Meter

A 6,000-count True RMS clamp meter that measures AC and DC current to 600 A and voltage to 1000 V, with a low-impedance mode and non-contact voltage detection in the jaw.

Comes in 2 versions: see which to buy

  • 1000V max
  • 600A max
  • 6000 counts
  • CAT IV 600V, CAT III 1000V

Temperature wording conflict: The headline accessory bullet mentions a thermocouple, but the detailed included list omits it and the temperature field is a dash. The CL710 manual provides no temperature-measurement procedure. Don't choose this model for temperature on the strength of that bullet; ask for confirmation of the accessory contents. A magnetic hanger is explicitly optional.

Fluke Black Friday: compare the 117, 323 and their kit

For electrician-focused voltage troubleshooting, the Fluke 117 adds VoltAlert non-contact detection, automatic AC/DC voltage selection and a selectable low-impedance mode. Both it and MM420 are True RMS, CAT III 600V meters; choose according to the functions you need before comparing offers.

Fluke 117 Electrician's True RMS Multimeter with Non-Contact Voltage

Fluke

Fluke 117 Electrician's True RMS Multimeter with Non-Contact Voltage

A compact 6,000-count True RMS multimeter for electricians, rated CAT III 600V, with built-in VoltAlert non-contact voltage detection, automatic AC/DC selection and a low-impedance mode.

Comes in 5 versions: see which to buy

  • 600V max
  • 10A max
  • 6000 counts
  • CAT III 600V

The Fluke 323 measures 400A AC clamp current, with AC/DC voltage through leads and CAT III 600V / CAT IV 300V ratings. Its spec table has no DC-current range. Against CL710, that current-type difference matters more than comparing the headline amp limits.

Fluke 323 True RMS Clamp Meter

Fluke

Fluke 323 True RMS Clamp Meter

A basic True RMS clamp meter rated CAT III 600V and CAT IV 300V that measures AC current to 400 A, AC and DC voltage to 600 V, resistance and continuity; it doesn't measure DC current.

Comes in 6 versions: see which to buy

  • 600V max
  • 400A max
  • CAT III 600V, CAT IV 300V

The exact 117/323 Kit is part 4296041. Its overview specifies TL175 leads, a TPAK magnetic hanger and a soft carrying case. However, the same page's box list describes generic silicone leads and a holster for the 117, plus leads and a soft case for the 323; it omits the hanger. Confirm the full manifest rather than promising a particular lead set from the kit name. Clips are not named in either list.

On the standalone 117 page, 117 CAL adds a traceable calibration certificate with data; R-FLUKE-117 means factory reconditioned. Match condition and paperwork before comparing packages. Buy the pair only if both instruments suit your work; the kit does not add DC clamp current to the 323.

Check price on Amazon for the 117 alone or the 323 alone. The combined kit has its own record pending Amazon identifier confirmation; neither standalone link is a kit link.

For alternatives, use the multimeter guide for the 117 and clamp-meter guide for the 323.

Check CAT markings and usable accessories

Read the category and voltage on every instrument. RT250KIT illustrates why: Klein specifies CAT II 135V for RT250, alongside CAT IV 1000V for NCVT3P. The pen's rating does not extend to the outlet tester. For connected instruments and accessories, the Fluke clamp manual assigns the combination the lowest individual category and voltage rating.

Klein's MM420 manual requires the lead shields in CAT III/CAT IV measurement locations. A higher-rated cap does not upgrade the meter itself. Fluke's safety guide advises matching the highest category and voltage required by the job; it places service-entrance equipment in CAT IV.

How we choose

This is document-based research, not physical testing. We compared official Klein and Fluke product pages and manuals on November 2, 2026, checking exact models, kit contents, current types and marked ratings. Conflicting manufacturer descriptions are identified above. Our recommendations weigh task fit and useful included accessories; they do not rank discounts or rely on retailer listing claims. See how we choose.

Verdict

Choose MM420 for a general-purpose meter, NCVT3P or RT210 when you need only that tester, and RT250KIT when both AC detection and an LCD outlet tester are useful. Choose CL710 for AC/DC clamp current; compare Fluke 117/323 Kit when you need an electrician's multimeter and an AC clamp together. Use the checklist before treating any package as a deal. For broader present ideas, continue to gifts for electricians.

Frequently asked questions

Are there verified Klein Tools Black Friday deals on this page?

No promotional offer is marked verified here as of November 2, 2026. This page compares manufacturer-documented tools and kit contents; its product links do not certify a discount. Before ordering, check the exact package, seller, stock, returns and checkout terms on the retailer's page. Treat the recommendations as buying advice rather than a sale announcement.

Which Klein kit includes the NCVT3P and a GFCI outlet tester?

RT250KIT pairs the NCVT3P voltage pen with the RT250 LCD GFCI receptacle tester and a storage pouch. NCVT3PKIT instead includes an ET45 contact AC/DC voltage tester, so it is a different package. For a multimeter as well, the 69355 kit adds a manual-ranging MM320 to the NCVT3P and RT250; it does not contain the auto-ranging MM420.

Does the Fluke 117/323 kit measure DC clamp current?

No. The 323 measures up to 400A AC through its clamp; its DC capability is voltage measurement through test leads. The 117 has AC/DC current measurement through its leads, which does not turn the 323 into a DC clamp. If DC clamp current is the requirement, compare an instrument such as Klein's 600A AC/DC CL710 instead.

Does the voltage pen's CAT rating apply to the whole kit?

No. In RT250KIT, Klein specifies CAT IV 1000V for the NCVT3P pen and CAT II 135V for the RT250 outlet tester. Each instrument retains its own rating. For a connected meter, probes and accessories, Fluke's manual says the combination takes the lowest individual rating. Check both the category and voltage for the intended job, including the leads and caps.
